Swine Flu Vaccine Shortage? Not at Goldman Sachs

Of course. Now come on kids, let's all get worked into an outraged lather at once, shall we?

Business Week:

To the list of hundreds of schools, hospitals, and community health centers that have received limited allocations of the H1N1 swine flu vaccine, you can now add some of New York's largest employers. In the past week or so 13 companies, including Citigroup (C) and Goldman Sachs (GS), have begun receiving small quantities of the vaccine, according to city health authorities.

Citigroup has been supplied with 1,200 units and Goldman with 200, says Jessica Scaperotti, press secretary for the Department of Health & Mental Hygiene.

The Department of "Mental Hygiene" needs to investigate what in the hell is wrong with our heads to put Goldman traders above pregnant women on the list of "high risk" individuals, IMHO, but maybe that's just me.

    What is being portrayed here is the big shot Wall Street executive getting the swine flu vaccine. In reality, it is the minimum wage mail room employee's chronically ill daughter getting the shot.

    Come on people wake up and read between the lines and stop reading just the headlines. Goldman Sachs is a very large company and has a medical practice that is run to treat their employees and immediate family. It is a doctor's office and they deserve the vaccine just as much as any other doctor's office.

    Nothing has been stolen or ripped off. Show me evidence of someone outside of the risk pool being given the vaccine and then I will be furious. Until then, find some real news to report.

    I have been waiting for months to get my 1 yr old the swine flu vaccine but have been told that there is a shortage and to keep waiting. Today I talked to relatives from another state who informed me that they were able to get their baby the shot and that they as well were going to recive it because there is enough. They are not even in the risk ages nor do they have health issues. People are able to get the vaccine who are outside the "risk pool". So you better be furious. I sure am!
